Bateau Bay

Bateau Bay NSW- Why I love it

Bateau Bay NSW is home to me. It’s where my wife Kylie and I have chosen to raise our children. We’ve lived in Bateau Bay for 17 years.

There are many things that I love about living and working in Bateau Bay. I’d like to share a few of them with you.

Bateau Bay is full of natural beauty. If you love the beach and/or bushland be sure to pay a visit. One of my favourite things about this area are all the scenic walks to be explored. Make a day of it and take a picnic up to Crackneck Lookout.

One of the happiest days of my life. Our wedding day.

Things to do in Bateau Bay NSW

Crackneck Lookout & the Coastal Walking Track – To get to Crackneck Lookout, turn right off Bateau Bay Road into Burrawong Street, then turn right into Hilltop Street. Follow Hilltop Street through the National Park and you will find Crackneck Point at the end of the road.

While there, take a walk along the Coastal Walking track. This popular scenic walk offers some spectacular scenery and leads to Forresters Beach in one direction or to Shelly Beach in the other.

Bateau Bay Tenpin Bowling  – something many people don’t know about me is that I spent many years at Bateau Bay Tenpin Bowl as a National Athlete of the sport. Representing NSW for 17 years at the Australian Championships and Australia for 3 years at the Asian Zone & World Championships in Hong Kong, Abu Dhabi and Germany.

Bateau Bay Public School – All my children attended the local primary school which I would rate one of the best schools in the 2261 postcode. In the time they attended, I could not fault the teaching and the care the school principal and teachers had for all the children.

Lunch – There are so many choices. Try some local food from one of our many cafes, restaurants or takeaways.  After a bit of sun and a swim you can finish the afternoon over at the Bowling Club or at Bateau Pub

Aged Care options – There are many options here for the elderly. The options range from self sufficient to high care. There are so many choices that I will be adding a full list here very soon. If you’d like to be notified when it’s ready you can let me know here.

Beaches – Bateau Bay is a beautiful beach. But it’s not the only option when visiting the area. Within just minutes you can be at the popular Shelly Beach or Forresters Beach. Both are good for a surf. If the little ones would like a dip in the water the ever popular Toowoon Bay is a family favourite.

Golf anyone? If you’re keen for a hit, Shelly Beach Golf Course is open to members and non-members. And if it’s not your day on the green you can console yourself at the 19th with a coldie and a view over the ocean.

Shopping – Bateau Bay Square, boutique shopping and the retro and cafe options at nearby Long Jetty will keep you busy.

What do I love about working in Bateau Bay on the Central Coast?

There’s a lot to love but I’d definitely say the scenery and the lack of traffic. Let’s start with the scenery. The coastal scenery where the beach meets the bush at the Wyrrabalong National Park is beautiful.

One thing that I definitely appreciate at the end of, or sometimes during, a stressful day is that the water is only 10 minutes or less from wherever I’m working. There is something calming and therapeutic about watching the waves roll in at the end of a long day.

Traffic? There really isn’t any. The commute is easy. Bateau Bay is very central and it’s an easy drive to most parts of the Central Coast.

Bateau Bay is one of those places you can go and feel like time never changes. It’s the perfect place if you’re looking forward to some peaceful relaxation away from the hustle and bustle.
